Other names
alpha-1-antitrypsin; Alpha-1-antitrypsin; alpha-1-antitrypsin; serpin A1; alpha-1-antiproteinase; alpha-1-antitrypsin null; alpha-1 protease inhibitor; protease inhibitor 1 (anti-elastase), alpha-1-antitrypsin; serine (or cysteine) proteinase inhibitor, clade A, member 1; serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade A (alpha-1 antiproteinase, antitrypsin), member 1; Alpha-1 protease inhibitor; Alpha-1-antiproteinase; Serpin A1
Storage and shipping
Store the antibody at +4 degrees Celsius for short term storage.. Long-term storage should be done after aliquoting the antibody and freezing the aliqotes at -20 degrees Celsius. Under these conditions the aliquots will be stable for at least one year if kept at -20 °C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Description
Tissue, pathway, proteinase, peptidase, protease ,acrosin, lipoprotein, activator, caspase, trypsin, papain, esterase inhibitors are proteins or receptor ligands or receptor antagonists that bind to an enzyme receptor and decreases its activity. Since blocking an enzyme's activity can kill a pathogen or correct a metabolic imbalance, many drugs are enzyme inhibitors. Not all receptor antagonist that bind to enzymes are inhibitors; enzyme activator ligands or agonists bind to enzymes and increase their enzymatic activity, while enzyme substrates bind and are converted to products in the normal catalytic cycle of the enzyme.
Specificity and cross-reactivity
Recognizes human a-1 AT, native and denatured. Epitope specificity differs from that of clone 6F4. Reacts strongly with a-1 AT. Strong reaction is seen in ELISA with native and denatured a-1 AT directly coated onto the microtiter well. When tested in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal antibody against a-1 AT, it only recognizes native a-1 AT. In Western Blot after SDS-PAGE, this antibody reacts with native and denatured a-1 AT in reduced as well as non-reduced forms.; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited. This particular antibody might cross react with speacies outside of the listed ones.
