Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.

CD45R This item recognises a restricted, high molecular weight form of the human leucocyte common antigen, present on B lymphocytes and a subset of T lymphocytes. It is able to immunoprecipitate antigens of 220, 205 and 190kD molecular weight. When tested upon transfected cell lines, this antibody recognises only those lines expressing the C exon of the leucocyte common antigen. However some cells expressing the C exon are not recognised by the antibody, apparently due to differences in expression of sialic acid. Current data therefore suggests that This item reacts with a sialic acid dependent carbohydrate epitope of CD45 associated with the C exon.; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited.
