CD169 This item specifically recognises human CD169, otherwise known as Sialoadhesin (Sn), a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and prototypic member of the Siglec (sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin) family, designated Siglec-1. _x000D__x000D_CD169 is a macrophage-restricted interaction molecule which binds to sialylated ligands on haematopoietic cells, including neutrophils, NK cells, monocytes, a subset of CD8+ T cells and B cells, through recognition of sialic acid in the alpha-2,3- glycosidic linkage. CD169 is highly expressed by dendritic cells and on stromal macrophages in the spleen, bone marrow and lymph nodes and to a lesser extent in liver, lungs and gut, and studies have shown high expression of CD169 on macrophages in the inflammatory conditions rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis. _x000D__x000D_Clone 7-239 completely inhibits erythrocyte rosetting around Sn+ transductants.; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited.
