Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.

Mouse or mice from the Mus musculus species are used for production of mouse monoclonal antibodies or mabs and as research model for humans in your lab. Mouse are mature after 40 days for females and 55 days for males. The female mice are pregnant only 20 days and can give birth to 10 litters of 6-8 mice a year. Transgenic, knock-out, congenic and inbread strains are known for C57BL/6, A/J, BALB/c, SCID while the CD-1 is outbred as strain.

Store the antibody at +4 degrees Celsius for short-term storage and at -20 degrees Celsius for long-term. the antibody should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Repeated freeze - thaw cycles may denature the peptide chains of the antibody and therefore should be maximally avoided. CD147 Recognises mouse CD147 (also known as basigin). CD147 is a cell surface glycoprotein that is widely expressed on leukocytes, red cells, platelets and endothelial cells. The reported functions of CD147 are diverse and include involvement in T-cell activation, cell adhesion and induction of matrix metalloproteinases. _x000D__x000D_OX-114 recognises both isoforms of CD147, the common form containing 2 Ig-like domains and the rare form containing 3 Ig-like domains. _x000D__x000D_This antibody is routinely tested in flow cytometry on mouse splenocytes. Note that for staining of whole blood samples increased amounts of antibody may be required due to the presence of CD147 on erythrocytes.; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited.
