Description
The Alpha Fetoprotein Antibody is a α- or alpha protein sometimes glycoprotein present in blood.
Tested applications:
ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistology (IH)
Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by MBS Monoclonals they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
Other names
alpha-fetoprotein; Alpha-fetoprotein; alpha-fetoprotein; alpha-fetoglobulin; alpha-1-fetoprotein; alpha-fetoprotein; Alpha-1-fetoprotein; Alpha-fetoglobulin
Storage and shipping
Store the antibody at +4C. Temperature variations in the range of 1 to 7 degrees Celsius are tolerable. We recommend NOT to freeze the antibody. Antibody is stable for 24 months.
Species reactivity
Human (Homo sapiens), Monkey, Dog, Pig. It does not react with cow, cat, Mouse (Mus musculus), and Rat (Rattus norvegicus).; Due to limited knowledge and inability for testing each and every species, the reactivity of the antibody may extend to other species which are not listed hereby.
Specificity and cross-reactivity
It recognizes an oncofetal glycoprotein with a single chain of 70kDa, which is identified as alpha fetoprotein (AFP). This MAb is highly specific to AFP and shows no cross-reaction with other oncofetal antigens or serum albumin. AFP is normally synthesized in the liver, intestinal tract, and yolk sac of the fetus. Antibody to AFP has been shown to be useful in detecting hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and germ cell neoplasms, especially yolk sac tumors.; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited. This particular antibody might cross react with speacies outside of the listed ones.
